Shaft grounding is one of the necessary actions to be provided during the operation of different types of motors and generators. Grounding brushes eliminate bearing currents that can lead to the formation of small pits, grooves, and serrations on the contact points of bearings. A damaged surface on the contact points of bearings will lead to increased wear and shortened service life. Therefore, grounding brushes protect bearings from damages and wind turbines from unnecessary downtime and costly repairs. Sandwich type silver/graphite brush is one of the most popular brushes used for grounding worldwide. Combination of electro graphite, which is responsible for lubrication, with silver-graphite that exhibits excellent conductivity provide best grounding performance in operation together with long service life.
